throttle issues with cb550 four
so i got a 77 550 four for cheap but it definately needs some work. i'm kinda learning as i go but i'm just kind of working through the issues, one thing that i've come to is throttle plate won't twist. it's stuck in a wide-open postition and it's almost like it's hitting something but i can't see anything. the choke will pull all the valves in the carbs shut so it's not with that, it's something in the plate.. does anyone know what this could be? because i looked at it for a half hour and could not figure this out!
yeah i discontected the cables and and pulled the carbs off and it would not budge. it's just weird that the choke will move everything fine but the throttle plate won't. and it's not even like it's just not springing back, as hard as i try it will not twist back. i guess i'll have to pull apart the top of the carbs and look at it but i was trying my hardest to avoid doing that..
and i even pulled the spring off, still wouldn't budge. it feels like something is in the way but it's nothing i can see from the outside.
yeah, it's just weird that it moved very slightly so it's not like the actual throttle plate is seized. it must be something inside. i'll take it apart later and take a look at it. i'll let you know if i figure it out.
yeah that's nice. i don't mind working on it though. definately gives me something to do and a sence of accoplishment when it's all done.. tore apart the bottom of the carbs and their was 20 year old gasoline in two of them. that's my issue. just need to get all the gunk out of there and i should be good. next to move on to the issue of no spark.. thinking it's the coils.
