Constant transmission grind
Got a d series 5 spd tranny and it shifts smooth into every gear, but when you push the gas peddle you can hear and feel a constant grind... Possible fix?
when you say feel, do you mean the entire car vibrating? or certain parts like the pedal or shifter or steering wheel
the noise can be one of the bearings in the trans

This ek has had some neglect and i'm going to basically fully restore it, so alot of things are bad... The alignment,vibrations,etc... Overall rides like crap due to abuse. You can feel the grinding in the pedal and in the shifter, and the steering wheel also vibrates at highway speeds and pulls hard to the right... If I had to guess, it's the throwout bearing or input shaft from a cheap ebay clutch kit...The sound is similar to grinding a gear, but constant as long as my foot is on the pedal...
Come on!!! need some advice on this one... It shifts into every gear flawlessly, but grinds under any kind of load... You dont hear it when you're coasting but definately hear it when you give it gas... Also, if this helps, you can feel the shifter rock back when you accelerate... I dont think a bad transmission mount would make it grind though... Think it could be really low on fluid?
Allways check the simple stuff first. Pull the fluid plug and put 2 quarts back in it. Its so hard to diagnose sounds over a forum. It may be something simple like that.
I had a similar problem with my del sol. 135k miles and I am willing to bet the trans fluid was never changed once. When I pulled the plug it looked like tree sap coming out. After putting 2qt honda mtf in it shifts great and no more grinding noise under acceleration.
Thats all the advice I can offer. Im sure a tranny guru can chime in. But from my experience on doing my own wrenching, it is best to allways check the simple stuff first and rule those out before moving on to more complex (and expensive) fixes.

I just got the car and havent had much time to really dig into it... I've been in a constant battle with the state over my last ticket, and it seems like every day they got some new bullshit they make up and I have to fork over extra dough... Cant wait till it's OVER
Does it make noise in neutral with the clutch out? If so one or more of the bearings in the transmission are bad. (usually the mainshaft bearing on the bell housing side or the top countershaft bearing are the two that fail most commonly) I've seen a seized pilot bearing make the same noise before too, but I've only seen it once vs countless times for bad tranmission bearings.

Doesn't sound like a bad bearing in the transmission then
That would be the clutch, manual transmissions can't slip.
Most likely that's all you'd need, but again if it's not making noise in neutral with the clutch out chances are the bearings are fine. Er, actually, only making a grinding noise when moving you say? Diff bearings may be toast, hadn't even thought of that before.

Actually I'm having the same exact sound you're talking about here in my 94 ex coupe.. It sounds like gears meshing, but only when under load. This car was in awesome shape cosmetically, minus a ding or 3, couple girls owned it prior... So I hear the noise and think "pilot bearing" = clutch kit. I replace the clutch...noise still there, but clutch was way overdue, so no harm. Checking CV axles, dry and cracked....new CV axles and still the sound! Wtf. Buddy has an extra tranny, so I buy him beer... You know the rest. I swap trannies thinking "this has to be it, bad bearings"......omfg really? Still the sound...
Only in gear, only under load (however, a faint grind in idle, gear in clutch out) gains frequency with speed not revs, drives me nuts.... Can I get an amen?
HELP!!
