Default dash fuel gauge

My speedometer was acting up so i took out the gauge cluster and lightley tigtened the screw on the back sides, reinstalled speedometer works great fuel gauge says full but I was empty. I tore apart found i broke the little wire in side, went to the junkyard found 1 gauge that was same and it was already on full. I took it out, and my gf is like here is one I look at the car and its an acura integra someone has already remvoed all screws and wires it was just sitting in the gauge spot looked identical to my 95 civic ex, 4door. that one works the other did not. Are these the same on an integra and a civic? Or did someone just sit it in there anyhow works again.

This^ does not mean the gauge was bad. The fuel gauge is designed to retain its fuel level reading even after the key is turned off.
