ok i did some research and found out that 92-93 si/ex had smaller disc brakes while 94-95 had bigger ones..... well i just found out that my vx rims wont fit on my car... is it possible that some 93 si came with bigger front brakes???...

 

the brakes on your car have prolly been swapped at one point would be my guess

 

'92 - '93 Si hatchbacks had small brakes, all EXs had big brakes. If you happen to live in Canada the Si coupes all have large front brakes.

Is it a coupe? Most of the hatchbacks sold in North America were made in Canada regardless of the intended market, so were a lot of the coupes. Made in Canada does not necessarily equate to sold in Canada. In any case no '92 - '93 Si hatch US or Canadian had big front brakes. I actually own a '93 Si and did a front brake swap on it, I also did one for someone else on a '92 Si hatch.

 

oo yeah my car is a 93 si hatch in the us.... im pretty sure no one swapped it.. but oh well this was good info to know... thanks

The only US EG hatchback to have large Nissin front brakes was the 94 Si w/ ABS. 94 was the only year to offer ABS on the Si. All the rest have the smaller Akebono calipers. Keep in mind pretty much all US civics were made in Canada. That doesn't mean they are Canadian versions.

PS: Ex coupes all have large front brakes. Only difference was the EX coupe w/ ABS had Integra sized caliper pistons while the non ABS version had a couple millimetres smaller piston, but the same looking Nissin caliper. EX sedans had small Akebono front brakes, except for the ABS version had the Integra Nissin calipers too.

 

The EX/Si cars without ABS that had the bigger brakes use the same size rotor as the Integra (10.3" I think) and the Integra caliper and bracket bolt on. The caliper bracket dictates which pads you can run. The Civic EX uses a slightly smaller pad with narrower tabs than the Integra uses.

I just did a brake swap on a 1993 Civic and the calipers from a 1994 EX coupe were rusted up, so I discovered this while putting some Integra calipers on that I had in my room.

 

This is incorrect. The only Si with the large front brakes is the 94 ABS version.

The only Non ABS Civics with large front brakes were the EX coupes, and the 94 Del Sol VTEC.

For anybody that doesn't believe me, look it up on any of the Honda parts websites.

Maybe your talking about the Si coupe from Canda or something?
