I'm trying to sell off my ITR's and I can't seem to get a serious buyer for anything.
I want to kinda hear it from you guys as far as pricing, flexibility, thoughts, etc.
First - my 2000 Clean title PY ITR -135k - non original motor but every vin on the car matches and the paint is really clean. The front bumper was scuffed and rear bumper has a small ding. Everything else is great.

Now after looking at that thread, the car has been lowered on JDM OHLINS and has all original ITR interior. I would take a $8500 offer for it if someone was serious enough and hell even $8,000 on stock suspension - I have offered it to many people, but everyone keeps fawking flaking.
Next up is my 1996 CW RHD ITR - it is registered - needs just a small starting problem fixed and a new owner. I posted it for 11k w/ out recaros or 11.8 with recaros. I'm willing to work out a deal with potential buyers but there are none out there..... fawwwkk.

I have been through a few z06's , m3 and other vettes that were soooo easy to sell. It seems like the damn Honda market SUCKS as I don't even get offers. I could essentially build a car to your liking with the parts I have but no one would even do that.... I'm annoyed and venting.
I love ITR's , always have, always will and I plan on keeping #0001 foreveR.

It's like the new Hundai Equus. Sure, it's cheap for a luxury sedan, but it's still a Hyundai and most people laugh at the idea of owning a luxurious Hyundai. I have yet to see one.
I'm one of the few in the market for a Type R. I have been driving a modded E36 BMW for over 10 yrs and would love to get back into a japanese car. I'm just weary of the fact that its so easy to steal. I live in Los Angeles and its gonna be my daily so the chances of someone stealing it is pretty high. Plus, insurance for the R will be higher. There's only a small niche in the market for the R. If you wait long enough, someone will pay the premium.
Btw, if that PY was CW. I'd really consider it.

hey whats up man, we spoke over the phone extensively about your work wheels.
anyway if you are open to suggestions:
RE: PY ITR
Start from scratch with your ad. The car looks clean, but the pictures down really show how clean it is.
Clean the car up and take all the pictures in one place ex: your house. (not highway pictures, not gas station pictures etc.) Get all angles inside and out. This will make your car look 10x's better and more professional.
Take pictures in the cars current state. Its kinda confusing seeing the car in different setups.
Also take the interior pictures in the daytime.
Take out the bold RED writing in your ad also.
Lastly unbold the price. I can see it just fine if it was in standard lettering.
Hope this helps

its all about how many people see it you need to post it every where autotrader cars.com vehix even put it on ebay the more people see the car the more it is likely to sell. with honda tech on other forums you only get a small segment of the people looking for a car you have to invest in the marketing of the car. glws
I wouldn't take pics at your house. I'd look for a nice place with a nice background. Something with nice flowers or even a clean blank wall or industrial background could help. Definitely day time though, and try not to get glares.

what does "not original motor' mean? is it a b18c5 from another car or jdm b18c? if it isn't one or the other it could be the reason you're having trouble with selling it. the price seems about right from what i've watched lately.
what are the engine details>?

99, its not really about your car IMHO. Its is clean, you are long standing member, etc. The thing is, its a Honda and most of the people who drive honda's are extremely young and broke. Most can't afford to pay 9K straight. Your going to have to find a market with an older crowd. I was telling my brother literally hours ago how if you can show cash you can find unbelievable deals because so many sellers get 100's of terrible offers, flakers, and wheel kickers. When someone finally has cash they take pennies on the dollar practically. I hate it for you but its just the trouble with these cars. Try ITRCA it is a older crowd, but the market is a little flooded with ITR's.
99,
Get that thing professionally detailed. Make sure to fix the oxidation in the headlights. I would personally remove the tint and put the fender liners back in. Also, no offense, that lip fitment looks pretty bad, it can't be OEM??? If it isn't spring for the $300ish for a new one and sell the old one for 50 bucks. There are still ppl out there that will pay good money for an R. I won mine in an ebay auction last May for $15,100. I drove down w/ cash and took it home the next day. Be patient and like the other member stated, fix your listing.
As for the 96', itrs are already a niche' market, a rhd jdm example is an EXTREMELY niche' market.

you have a b20 in it
that's similar to selling the car with no engine at all.
in fact you might get more buyers with no engine
b20s are probably the single most hated engine out there in stock form when it comes to resale. people slap vtec heads on them and create time bombs
car is probably worth 6500-7000.
if you sold all that crap off and stuck in a 100% stock jdm b18c you would get your 8500

If you posted these ITRs under California on craigslist and willing to ship, I'm sure someone will buy one. I've seen ITRs here in California in the same condition sell for $12K+.
But at the same time the B20 bottom block kills it since CA sucks on emissions/state ref blah blah blah BS. Sorry for putting my .02 cents just trying to help out.

It will take time! Too many ricers out there. They can't drop that much on a itr and are not willing or can not get the loan. Both cars are reasonable priced ok. Im sure the right owner will come along. GLWS
For the PY car, IMO, the price is high. Non number matching block in a limited production car always hurts resale. A B20VTEC isn't what most buyers of these cars want. Plus, it's yellow...
For the 96 spec, you have an extremely limited market. I'd buy the JDM car for 3-4k just to part it out, I would never consider driving one. You have to find one of those few who want to deal with the hassle of RHD/JDM and specifically don't want the 98 spec car. I'd check in Cali, it should sell there in a matter of days.

Interesting thread. Honestly your price is a little high I think. Like the guys said above I would take better pictures and make adjustments to your add. Pictures of the cars current state is always best. I don't think the motor hurts the sale as long as it is priced accordingly. Try marketing to different states as well. Good luck with the sale.
You could almost get your $8K asking price by parting the car out. Someone would love to have a clean-titled shell and the motor should be an easy sell.
And I agree, the non-numbers matching engine and higher miles on the chassis hurts it. If it were all original, it would have been gone by now at that price.
And honestly, being yellow does not hurt the resale.

I PM'd you about your PY way back when. Couple issues I had:
- You were in TX and I'd have to pay for shipping
- PY, IMO, is the worst ITR color. I'd imagine its the hardest to sell.
- b20/vtec. I wanted b18c5.
- Red calipers. Super cheesy and makes you wonder what other sorta stuff like that there could be.
Potential R owners are picky and are looking for a very specific vehicle. Also, I think the potential buyer pool is pretty small, as most people are probably buying for a Sunday driver. That probably limits most people in the 16-24 bracket.

its hard to sell because it's an old car and people still want $2134290384 for them.
now i'm not hating because it's old. but i'm being practical. you wanna sell a 10+ year old car, in a bad economy, for a high price? you better expect to sit on it for a while until the right buyer comes along..

I am in the market for a type R and have been all year. I am really wanting a championship white one, but have been willing to buy another color assuming it met all of my other requirements. I check the ITR forum everyday to see if the ITR cars for sale thread has any new lisitngs. Let me help you out:
The 1996 CW.....this scares me, "It is real and registered with a Mississippi title ( Stated as salvage but we know these cars were tricky to register but the previous owner did it )."
Flat out, the car was illegally registered, maybe with a VIN swap or whatever. Either way, I'm not fooling around with any title issues like that. That immediately turned me away from that car. I don't car if it was listed for $6,000.00 and included the Recaro's. I didn't even read the rest of the post after that.
Secondly, the PY........It has a b20/vtec. Anytime I see any car that is an ls/vtec or b20/vtec, I shy away from them. It doesnt mater how clean that car is or what else is done to it, when you rip out the heart of an original ITR (the b18c5), the car becomes worth maybe half of its value to me. GREAT EXAMPLE, look at the other guy in Central Florida trying to sell his 1997 type R for 10 grand. The thing has not one, BUT TWO rebuilds on the title and does not have the original motor. That car is worth 5 grand to me at best.
Take this from a buyer's perspective. I am willing to spend 15 grand on a type r that is all original, low miles, and I can tell that it's been well taken care of, but those cars are unicorns these days. I have a daily, and an s2000, and I just have always wanted an ITR. So since I am buying this car strictly to be driven MAYBE 5k a year, I will sit patiently until the perfect deal comes across.
Good luck with your sale (both of them).

The 2000 PY:
I'll run down the list.
Non-OEM paint job
Non-stock front lip
non-stock suspension (tokico blues are not stock)
gauges
short shifter
non-stock motor (b20vtec) and solid mounts
What would help you sell the car:
Really good photos (since it isn't an OEM paint job, front lip, etc).
A video or pictures of a leakdown/compression test on the motor (since the motor isn't stock)
Better pictures of the mods (short shifter, gauges, etc).
Frankly, your listing is ALL over the place, so it's hard to see the condition of the car, what's included, etc.
The 1996 JDM ITR:
It's 100% illegal, so it's hard to sell.
I agree that 10k is too high, but that's his asking price. I'm not sure what he'd sell it for but it's probably more in line with what it's worth.
IMO his car is definately worth more than 5k. Hell if he even considered that price it'd be my daily driver! The car drove great.
