Drag suspension advice.
alright heres the deal. ive asked this same question on another forum and dont seem to be getting a straight answer. everyone has different views.
im looking to buy a suspension setup here in a week or two and need advice on what i should get. i am on somewhat of a budget so keep that in mind.
first a little about the car.
95 coupe sohc 475whp best et so far 11.01@129 1.8 60ft. on stock struts with 194k and old ebay coils
ive been looking at the blox drags that are 12kg front 18kg rear.
also looked at some ksports but the kg's on both front and rear are way less. but it has the adjustable strut. (idk what all that it adjusts)
now some people are saying you want softer in the rear. but i dont understand why. i would think you want super stiff so it doesnt squat at all and less weight transfer
and some people are saying put limiting straps on the front and have soft rears.
i dont really know how the strap setup looks or how it is used. and is it legal in some classes?
input would be great from the guys who know what there talking about. i really dont want imput if you dont have first hand exsperience with this type of setup cause then i get everyone saying something different.
thanks HT

The traps went down because you were getting better traction on the short track and not spinning as much out of the hole. Normally wheelspin will net you higher MPH on the big end.
having the rear softer sounds like some rwd advice. they do that so the rear squats and transfers more weight over the rear axle.
i have the omni's in my car 12k/18k (also 475hp). i drive it all over, even taking it to work 65 miles round trip in a little while.
i cant help you on brand, ive only used the omnis. however, once you get them play around with the preload on the rears

Don't get confused with springs and shocks. They do different things. Stiff springs is the wrong way to go about controlling the squat on the rear.
so in this car doing the straps on the front would be a good idea?
right, to me, the 1k in the rear makes it shock the car because it just slams on to a hard spring....the rear of the car is no where near 1000lbs lol
Straps do something different. They limit lift in the front which helps prevent squat in the back from the transfer. Even still when they come to their limits it shocks the chassis.
Think of stiff rear springs like this.... because the springs are so damn stiff it sthocks the hell out of the chassis and ultimately affects the traction. If you have the transfer of weight nice and smooth they you have a better chance of maintaining traction and controlling tire shake.

So is there a suspension kit that can be bought for around $600-$800 that will work properly? It's not like it is some magical part that needs to be described that cannot be named.
There are some really vague answers in most suspension threads and I know people want to keep their secrets but damn. Where do you draw the line and help someone with something and not send them off guessing and buying parts and re-buying parts over and over again.
Tepid, you seem very knowledgeable in this area. Do you know of a suspension that will work properly as you describe and not cost an arm and a leg?

Save until you can get the good ones. You'll thank everyone later.
PS> be prepared for a terrible ride with the blox and omni's. It's pretty rough.
