interior metal... to cut or not to cut?
im in the process of cutting the back half of my car and i was just wondering what i can or can not cut? basically the trunk is gonna go but how bout the extra metal thats riveted to the body? i've seen other people cut the the inner doors, inner rear hatch, and the rear webbings. how about the extra metal around the window areas? where the interior panels are mounted to?...so basically the car would be a shell.. just the body and nothing else but the floor. is there any rules in nhra or battle that prohibits cutting these areas?... i haven't seen anyone cut these area's and i was just wondering if it would pass tech? i recall reading a part in one of the rule books that you cannot drill holes in the unibody?... what part of the unibody are they talking about? i just don't want to go too far in cutting that i can't even pass tech!!!
You can read the NHRA rules online for yourself. It depends on what class you are running in, mostly.. You will incur a weight penalty in most cases.
