So while changing my valve cover gasket I managed to break one of those 4 double threaded bolts that holds the valve cover down in the middle under the spark plug wire cover... I need help. I cannot seem to find a new bolt. The honda dealer can't even help me. I have tried getting the bolt off of the B16 in the Del sol but it was too long. Does anyone know where I would be able to get one of these bolts?

those are all for usdm parts. This motor is a JDM SiR motor

You must have the only JDM engine in the states. No way someone would sell or part one on craigslist. No way one might end up in a salvage yard.

 

I am not able to post pictures yet but its one of the double threaded ones that comes up through the middle of the valve cover. There are only four of them on there

 

I just thought of something, try the JDM engine importers. Maybe one of them will have it or can get it.

 

Order it from the dealership.

just get one off a USDM. they should be the same.

 

or maybe actually invest in a torque wrench so your DA doesnt shear off valve cover bolts, because your trying to go BEAST on it.

The 94 Del Sol VTEC bolt will fit, even all USDM VTEC B series use the same bolt as the JDM one. I used it, works fine. As you said the USDM Del Sol bolt is longer, I never encounter that.

 

The valve cover bolts are one in the same! Both jdm and usdm, both 1st and 2nd gen, the bolts are the same, it is the same engine

 

same thing happened to me. i called a dealership in Japan and they had them in stock. So i had my boy Brian send them overnight so i could have the car finished in time for the big race

 

the bolts werent the same the one for the 2nd gen is longer. I found a part number online and the dealer happened to have 2 in stock the whole time. Definitely nabbed both of those bastards. Thanks for all your guys help

I HAVE both a 1st and 2nd gen B16 here. I have swapped valve covers before, no issues. They are the SAME head, and mount the SAME way!

well I am just telling you on what I got from the dealer man excuse me to doubt your knowledge and ability to own every type of motor Honda makes

There are a number of people who work in parts dept's at dealers, that do not know what they are doing.

All b16's use the same valve valve cover bolts from gen to gen, but do keep in mind, that the actual mounting of the cover does have a couple different part numbers, as to where each bolt is located. If i recall, the bolts on the ends, are different lengths than the ones in the middle. The parts guy who helped you, most likely ordered the wrong part number...very simple!





Part # 20 in the 1st pic, is different from that of part #24 in the 2nd....yet all b16 and B18C engines use the same two parts

 

i know that and I needed #20 and the one out of a del sol did not work on the one out of my crx. So I dont know what to tell you man. The bolt was too long to work for me and I managed to find the one I needed.
