Icon2 98 Civic Sedan speedometer issue.

So I have a 98 civic sedan and speedometer just doesn't work at the moment. I checked fuse 15 under the dash, which I replaced it with another 7.5 fuse because there was no power going to it when I tested it, and it had power again but speedometer still did not work. It doesn't move or anything. I'm not sure if it could be the speed sensor or what. Oh and the battery light on the cluster stays on as well. Lately the car has been dying when I leave it sitting for about 3-4 days or so. Any advice?

The battery is the yellow top which was installed may 09 if that helps.

The alternator is bad or belt is loose/snapped if the battery light stays on while you are driving. Check for CEL codes as mentioned.

And yeah the battery light stays on when driving as well.. So this can result to the speedometer not working?

I would test the battery, only 2 years old but you never know. I have heard mixed reviews about Optima's.

If you get the car started, after checking the battery check the continous voltage when running should be like 14.1 or so, 12 volts with key on.

If you turn the key does the Cel light go and on and then off, as the car goes through its start up mode?
