Default a/c compatible ramhorn diy

hey guys i first off let me start by saying i am a certified technician that has 5 years of experience with auto body and mechanics. i just wanted to clear it up so you guys dont blow me off with my question here.

Now the b series ramhorn vs the b series a/c compatible ramhorn. by looking at several pictures i can only find two major differences. i have never seen them in person so someone please back me up on this. i can tell that the flange is turned and the wastegate pipe is turned to the right between the two. what im trying to say is that they sell the diy ramhorn kit for half the price of a complete manifold. i really want the a/c compatible ramhorn for my gsr turbo. and i still want my power steering. (currently using the sp log a/c compatible manifold)

what do you guys think about if i were to purchase the diy kit. would i be able to make my own a/c compatible ramhorn out of the kit? or these two manifolds just look similar in the pictures. can anyone who actually designed it or makes them tell me the differences between the two?

also what if i just buy the regular ramhorn for the b series and just turn the turbo flange myself by cutting it turning it and welding it back on. would that make my ramhorn a/c compatible now?

thanks guys in advance i could really use some advice here.

If you post this question in the welding fab section you will be more likely to get a response. I'm not that good of a fabricator but I am sure it can be done. I have a fullrace ac compatible ramhorn; everything its tight it would take having everything to mock up for sure. It seems to be fairly common for diyers first time out to have manifolds crack at the welds. I honestly think it was well worth the money for the fullrace manifold, but would be fun to try and make one too.

thank you so much for your reply i appreciate it. is their a way i can see some pictures of your setup if you dont mind. i am dieing to see how it looks underneath with the oil return line and the charge pipe and the downpipe all in the same spot. and the size turbo your using with the diameter of your downpipe. also what chassis do you have.

b18c fullrace ac kit gt35r intake pipe is 4" to turbo and down pipe out is 3". Charge pipe is all 2 1/2" and its all in an ek civic. My oil drain is not ideal I think if I shorten the line a little it will be a better angle, I have been lazy and hot here. I am not blowing any oil. I just got that 3" exhaust made not long ago at Ricky's muffler in St. Augustine, I really like how it sounds. Its pushing 16psi with about 450whp.

wow thank you so much thats exactly what i was looking for i appreciate it dude. ive noticed that your fan is in front of the radiator. right now only my condenser fan is in front. so one thing i have to change would be my radiator fan to the front side. also did you cut that one thingy on your block? even though you dont have a/c now i can see how it will work even though its looking tight.

well i ordered my manifold from doc race. i cant wait till i put it on. i hope my oil line would be good where it is now. so far i dont have to modd much is what it looks like. i should post up a thread when im doing this for you guys so it makes it easier for the next guy. lol

nice set up….. but where is your condenser? and what kind of modifications did you have to do to your lines? I am in the process myself with a Go-auto a/c ram horn….

I'm still as of yet never installed the ac. I ended up building a hatch from the ground up. I am going to install the ac very soon now. My plan is to weld an fittings on and run flexible lines. Hopefully, I can keep the lines away from the manifold. I should have added took that setup and dropped it into a hatch

Most braided lines can't handle ac system pressures and the temperature of the Freon... they'd rupture and crack.

Do a search on E-Z Clip A/C Hose & Fittings. There are a handful of diy ac compatible lines out there. I can always take it to the local shop and have them custom make some flex lines, we will see got the condenser mounted today too.

Does the manifold not clear the lines or compressor?

Mine seem to fit closer than the images from Full-race:

The compressor fits fine, might make a heat shield for the back side so the downpipe doesn't cook it.
