Default Help, exhuast heat shield?

Im sometimes getting a ratling, grinding sound when the car is on neutral, but when I push it into gear the noise disapears, also happens when accelerating, between shifts(1st-2nd), and when moving slow. Could it be my heat shield? I heard somewhere that this could cause the ratling sound? Will there be a problem if I remove my exhuast heat shield? I hope this won't be a clutch problem.

Thanks for any advice

i replaced the stock exhaust piping from the cat back...there maybe slight rattle from the hangers...other noise problems could come from the cats. shield

there's an easy way to find out... just remove it and take it for a drive. if the sound is gone... you're done. if the sound is there, you know it's not your heat shields.
