Side molding adhesive or clips only...
...When I pulled off my side molding to prep for paint it was a COMPLETE B***CH...it had adhesive and the normal clips...do they always use the adhesive strips or when I put the new molding on would it be OK to use just the clips? I've heard or the stick on adhesive thin side moldings but that seems like kind of a disaster.

Thanks for the help in advance.

i would put them back on with some adhesive or two sided tape and the clips to make sure it's aligned. when i got my hatch the side molding rattled worse then any license plate out there. this is with a cheap 12" sub. mine only had clips i added some two way tape no more rattle.

On my EM1 when I removed mine they just slide right off but some of the 3 black clips on each
side get brital so had to buy new ones from my local dealership and some came with front
mudguards which those have to be removed first before removing the clips and sliding them off,
so no adhesive strips on mine when I first removed it or those might be on earlier year models
but I could be wrong, maybe someone in this forum can correct this.

The door parts have both adhesive and clips and screws from the factory. If you don't have all that then its likely your trim was removed/replaced at some point. All the other pieces are held on by clips alone. (or so it's been with my 3 cars anyway)
When I pulled them off at the junkyard, they were only attached by the clips. I just presumed that's how they were all attached. I didn't even know Honda used adhesive.

i dont think they were ever held on by adhesive from factory.. just clips.. however, i drive a cx (no moldings, or holes for them) so my moldings are held on by 3m two way tape.. best stuff
only thing i can think of as to way you'd find any kind of adhesive, would be that someone else had them off, and put them back on with it

I finally used clips and some construction adhesive. Initially, I used double-sided tape but over time I had to replace the tape and didn't want to keep redoing it.
Thanks for all the heads up...I'm still deciding wether to order the thin molding or just go to a junkyard to get the USDM stuff...
