Default adjusting coilovers with preload

so i just picked up some buddy club coilovers. they look like any other coilover with the preload feature. the preload is set and the bottom cup is threaded all the way up til where it won't turn anymore. the cup isn't any where near the top 2 locking rings. i want to keep the preload but i'm not satisfied with the height. my question is, is there any other way to lower the coilover without messing with the preload? and the cups do have a limit to how much they will thread up right?

Never heard of this preload thing in all my years on this website until all of these cheap coil-over kits became really popular. I still don't understand what preload is and why people are so worried about it.

Ideally your suspension should have rates specific to what you need, and shocks to match that. If installing your suspension requires you to play with the springs before you install them that just seems almost dangerous and inconsistent to me. No way you could do it precisely on all four corners to keep the car remotely balanced.

Installing suspension should be as simple as that. Shocks/springs/install done. All this preload stuff is just nonsensical.

thats about as low as you can go without losing shock travel vs extra lowering then.
