Driver Side Axle Removal Help!!
Whatsup guys, I have a 93 integra rs with gsr motor. I was going to pull the motor but wasn't able to remove the drivers side axle. The passenger side 32mm spindle nut came right out with a 1/2 ratchet and pipe for leverage. The drivers side was getting attacked all day. I had a 3/4inch breaker bar with long pipe and couldnt break it loose. My buddy came by with his heavy duty snap on impact wrench and it wouldnt budge. Tried heating the nut and everything possible. I've snapped a snap on breaker bar today, and it seems there is no way around it. The only thing i could think of is that the drivers side axle could possibly be reverse thread??? If thats the case im sure I tightened it sooo much. If anybody has any tricks or other ideas please let me know I feel like smashing this car right now.
No it is not in reverse thread. Turn counter clockwise to break it loose. If the car is still driveable then drive it to a local tire shop to have them blast it off with their semi-truck impact guns.
The car is not really drivable at this point. THanks for the reply, any other options? I cant really see how the nut can be cut? I mean we had some serious torque on this nut with some heavy duty ish to the point it was lifting the front of the car, i've never seen anything like it.
I had the sma e problem a few weeks ago, i even tried cutting it but didnt go to well. Just the the spindle/knuckle off and take it to a machine shop.
Looks like you were in the same boat i was. Take a dremel to the nut. Don't hit your rotor. If your breaking 3/4 drive breaker bars, something is very wrong. Nothing, I mean nothing on our cars should be destroying 3/4'' drive breaker bars.....I sure hope your not turning it the wrong way....

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I finally broke it loose. I'd like to share how I got it loose since it seems like I'm not the only one to run into this problem. I took a diesel 3/4inch breaker bar, I used a 3/4in 32mm socket that I found at sears. I placed a beefy screwdriver in between the rotor and caliper so there was no movement in the wheel all... A long pipe wasnt really providing enough leverage so I took the leg off of my harbor freight 1 ton shop crane. Its about a 5 foot long HEAVY piece of steel. I hammered the socket onto the nut to make sure it was all straight, slipped on the leg of the crane and sat on the leg and rocked back and forth like a see-saw till that SOB finally broke loose. Impact guns can be effective but when u really need to generate serious force, leverage is your friend, the more the better. Just make sure to keep the socket straight on the nut so it gets a nice grip and dosen't slip or move.
