Default New MR2 (vids starting on post #14)

I had a 94 VX w/ a JDM GS-R swap and traded it for this....

When I first got her.

...and what she looks like currently after getting my grubby lil' paws on her. :D

She's N/A right now but will be getting a 3rd gen. 3S-GTE swap in the near future. So far she has only suspension work done on her and I've just been doing maintenance to make sure the car is ready to take the added HP that'll come w/ the swap and tune. I have to admit, I really miss my Hatch and I'm reminded of it daily because I also have a 97 GS-R I DD but driving this deuce (especially when Auto-xing) makes it A LOT EASIER!!! lol! :D

Offset doesn't look right on those new wheels, I bet it handles worse than it did with the stock wheels. Sweet ride nonetheless.

MR2's actually handle way better w/ a staggered setup due to how the engine is situated and the suspension that is built around it. The OEM wheels/tires are actually the same width (front & rear) and make the car more "tail happy" or prone to the snap oversteer that Deuces are so (in)famous for. Regardless, I've taken this car auto-xing and pulled about the same times on my first time out as a friend's GS-R w/ full suspension, LSD/Type-R trans set-up and lotsa' seat time. So no, she handles just fine even w/ the offset. Only thing that threw me off w/ the car is that the 2.2liter pulls strong all the way up to 4.7-5k and then falls flat on it's face because of it's microscopic cams. lol!

The whole snap oversteer is considerably blown out of proportion. Especially on an NA.

(Have had 2 N/A's and a turbo)

I agree, but somehow it was enough of a concern for Toyota to make a change to the wheel & suspension set-up starting in 93 to offset that particular characteristic in the car.

But this should be a fun project.

I honestly almost got FD RX-7 wheels (16's). It's crazy because the FD stockers look like they could be factory equipped w/ the MKII MR2's as well. Thinking about getting a set of those too for track days. I think once I get the greddy sides the car will look more proportional. V6 would be nice but bang for the buck is definitely the 3s. Iron block baby!!! lol!

Walk around of an MR2 w/ FD wheels. On second thought... Think I might pick up a set of these after all :D

Thanks for the compliments guys! I appreciate it. Next mod is the 3S motor. Anyone know a good, reputable Toyota engine distributor here in the states? We have EMS Powered here in Austin on the MR2.com boards but lotta' shady stuff going on w/ them lately. Kinda' sad actually...

These are two vids from an autocross the PCA puts on in my area. I used to be pretty big on street racing and I have to admit, autocrossing is much more fun. It also helps that it's legal too. lol! Anyways, these are vids of my first two autocrosses in my MR2. Enjoy!!!

2nd autocross w/ my MR2 and my old B16 turbo hatch set-up being driven by HT's very own EH6TunerDaniel. He also happens to be a fantastic driver as well and belted out a Porsche quick 1:17 around this course ON HIS FIRST TRY!

Yeah, Pendulum's Tarantula is RAD!!!!! Kiddo in the seat is my oldest daughter. I almost left her at home because I didn't want her to be bored and seemed unfair but later she told me it was like riding a roller coaster and had a blast. Tradin' Barbies for a Snell helmet?!?!?! Who would thunk, huh? lol!!!
