What have you LS owners done with your side moldings????
I think they started painting them in 98. Wasn't this topic already posted?

Im having mine shaved soon.....I think it looks much better without them. If you can spend the little extra money, I think its worth it. Much cleaner look.
shaved
looks awsome. if my car is red or silver, it would stand out much more.
I only got the bottom of the car painted. I did it in such a way that i can go back to stock if i want to.

Yea, welding and lots of bondo to shave the side moldings. don't do it if you plan to keep the car for more than a year as the bondo will sag and look shitty. Bondo is just cheap ricey crap anyway.
I painted my whole car myself with a HVLP gun, painted the moldings and my front lip at the same time so everything matches. It looks very nice and clean.

They only came unpainted on RS'es and 94 & 95 LS'es... Anyways, I had to replace one of my side moldings and I painted it myself; it was really easy to do. I didn't do a great job, but it still came out looking good. I just got some Duplicolor primer, import paint (frost white in my case), and clear coat. I did a few coats of each and it looks like the original.
I thought about just taking them off when I had to replace that one, but they've saved my doors many times from inconsiderate jerks who park next to me. I wish there were something to protect the rear quarter panels.
I'm careful about where I park, but so many people still hit my car with their doors; it's just ridiculous. I actually considered getting those JDM power-folding mirrors because people walk right into my mirrors too! I just got a new place with a nice big garage so I wont have to deal with this crap.
