Thinking of: Working on my 1991 honda civic 4dr
Long story short:
i bought a 1991 honda civic DX (brown) 4dr standardtrans off of my uncle for 450$.
it runs great iv had no problems other than an old main relay that i resoldered.
Now i really love this car, and i feel comfortable with it and i just cant sell it or buy myself a new car because i love it so much!
Problem is i really dont like the brown on it and the clear coat is peeling in spots and a tad bit of rust damage, and a few dents. So i was hoping to repaint it!
My dad has a friend that works across from his work thats a furniture refinisher and she has two hvlp spray guns! Shes really nice and may let me borrow one or let me spray my car in her shop!
I was wondering is it hard to do automotive refinishing? im thinking of going a nice fire engine red with a slight hint of metallic.
Is it worth it!?
If anyone is interested in my intent with the car:
- paint red
- body kit
- new rims
- new tires eventually ( there high milage tires and very skiddish even when very sunny out)
- slowly make my car a car that i can be proud to drive and not look like a pizza delivery car!
im very sorry for my crappy post im only 18 and i still find myself with the grammar and spelling of my 12 year old self, but beside that im very intelligent and logical, i just really dont like english

I think im going to go with a single stage paint, also maybe not fire truck red maybe a dull orange to hide blemishes and dents. also Im picking single stage fore ease of touch ups and repair.
also single stage paint is probably easier to apply?
can I just put the paint right over the existing paint/clear coat if i sand it all smooth and even it out and rough it up with sandpaper?
