Like the title states my car wont start unless i wiggle the key when im trying to start it. It does it all the time no matter what and it seems like its getting worse. Any help would be appreciated. Also i did search more the once to find out how to fix this.

Bought the car a few weeks ago like that. I just took a look at the tumbler assembly and tightened up everything and now it starts first try without wiggling it but its been known to start up right away sometimes. I just cant justify spending 300 for the ignition when i bought the car for 1300. What normally goes bad?

You can buy the electrical part of the switch for about $50 on eBay.

to avoid this particular problem again in the future just simply dont have alot of keys on your cars keychain. with all the extra keys causes unneccesary strain on the ignition switch overtime. if you think your keychain is too heavy try holding the tip of your car key (attached to your keychain of course) with the tips of your fingers and if you cant hold it parallel with the ground for more than 10 seconds then its probably too heavy for your ignition switch and will wear it down faster than normal.

I had that same problem and I thought it was the ignition switch also. I had to jiggle the key to get to hear the fuel pump prime with the key in second position. Then the car would start. I replaced the ignition switch ($43) still didn't help. This problem was especially bad after it rained. Turned out the problem was the ECU. The outer case of the ECU was wet and oxidized. I think moisture got in to the ECU and shorted the circuits that activated the fuel pump. If you can borrow a ECU try that. I have a 93 del sol si 1.6 auto stock.

Im pretty sure its not my ecu. When i turn the key to the on position right before you start it i can hear my fuel pump prime and i dont have to do anything with the key then. After yesterday i have just been pushing alittle more firm on the key when i turn it on and it hasnt taken more then one try to start right up and yea ive heard about your tumbler assem going bad from the extra weight but my key chain consists of 2 keys a key ring thats all. Maybe the person who had it before was a woman since they like having a million things on there key chain haha.
