Hi,

I was changing out the plunger n contact on my starter and in the process the bottom starter bolt has broken deep inside the hole, I first tried to slowly drill it out, but its not really working and the last thing I want to do is break a hardened BIT/extractor in there, or better yet drill into the engine....

Since the top bolt is ok, I want to thread the bottom hole with a 12mm x 1.25 tap, approximately an inch long, then use a > grade 10 bolt, that should be ok right?

The same thing just happened to me on my 1999 civic and I was thinking of tapping the bottom hole as you suggested. I didn't see any replies to your post. Did you end up doing this and did it work? thanks, Ed
