Car doesn't start, bad battery?
I just recently came back home from school for the summer and when I went to my car to start it, the car didn't start. It's been sitting for about 3-4 months. So I figured it just needed a jumpstart. I hooked it up to my neighbors car with jumper cables, and still the car wouldn't start. I hear the click when I turn the key to start it, I think thats the starter? Anyways as soon as I disconnected the jumper cables, the lights on the dash fades away..I'm thinking its a bad battery?? I haven't had a chance to take it to autozone yet, no ride. However if it is a bad battery, I'll just have to tough it out and walk to autozone with it. Any suggestions on what it might be? Its a 99 GSR.

How long did you charge it for? That sounds like a bad battery if you gave it enough time...and if it turns out that it won't start with a new battery it's your starter. The click means your relay is okay.
10 min. charging from another car should be enough time to put a "surface charge" on your dead batt. and if the other batt. is still connected, [engine should not be running on other car] your car should start,
If all you hear is a "click" and it's coming from the starter, [starter solenoid] the problem may be poor main power or ground connections, [common on cars that have been sitting a long time.
I would start by redoing the batt. to chassis and chassis to engine grounds, remove them, clean both contact surfaces and reconnect, making sure the connections are tight.
Also redo the batt. to starter motor connections.
Try a jump start again. 94
