This is my second motor I've built and I'm running out of ideas as to why it won't start.
B18C block 81.5mm
B18B crank
B18B forged eagle rods
Wiseco 6542M815 Pistons 81.5mm
Stock B16 head
First off, my motor is hard to turn with the head on. Turning by hand is impossible, even with the spark plugs/cams out. So I first checked my timing. Timing is dead on and there are no bent valves, or valves hitting the pistons. It will turn with my starter(brand new), but it is fairly slow. It is getting spark, fuel, and it has compression. It's pumping oil just fine into the head and I'm not getting any CELs. It is also shooting out exhaust as I turn it over. I just can't seem to understand why the motor is so hard to turn over. I figured it would be hard, seeing as it is fresh, but I've never had this big of a problem before. It seems that if I figure that out, I might be able to get it started. Any ideas? My battery is fully charged btw.

Bent crank maybe, was it line-bored?
Are you sure rod caps are torqued properly?
Did you use lots of assembly lube?
How about piston rings, gaped properly?
You said. "First off, my motor is hard to turn with the head on" does that mean it's easy/normal with head off? 94

Yeah. It rotated without much resistance before I put the head on. Then there was some more resistance, naturally. It sat for about 3 months before I swapped it in.
did you get everything in the head torqued correctly? also i looked at the pistons and they dont look to have a raised dome but it it raised the compression it could cause that. especially with the starter turning it over slow cause some stroker motors iv built do the same. and if the motor doesnt turn fast enough i believe that it wont want to start. correct me if im wrong. i just use a jumpbox when starting them up for the first time so that they get turning

I finally got it started. Apparently on the start up map, I had selected the wrong map sensor somehow. Switched it to the stock one, fired on up.
normally it should be hard to turn by hand, because of the springs rate of the valves when you're trying to rotate it. If, its spinning slow you might want to look into getting a new battery with higher amperage. I had done a frankenstein k24a2 with k20a2 head. everything was done correctly, and had recharged the good battery that had came out of the car. when it was trying to fire up spin really slow, but wouldnt crank. and at the end, it ended up we had to get a new battery. i hope this helps, you good luck. thought i'd share my experience.
what do you mean you had selected the wrong map sensor? im going through kinda the same problem with not starting cause its an lsvtec and its just fouling out the plugs after like 2 seconds of cranking so im wondering if im going through the same problem

Thanks man. I appreciate the input.
On crome, I had the 3 bar selected and not the stock honda map sensor.
