My 2003 Civic's high beam can't be turned on by the switch while both the low beam and turn signal are working. The problem first started as a delay (for a few seconds) when I switch from low-beam to high-beam (to clarify a little bit, this is the sequence of events: low-beam on -> switch to high-beam -> complete darkness -> high beam on after a few seconds), then not too long after, high-beam (both left & right) can't be turned on anymore (the blue high-beam indicator in the dashboard is also off). Anyone has similar experience or know what might be the cause? Thanks.

 

I believe there was a recall for this problem, unlesss its been adressed you may want to find out. I know they recalled the 2001's. The terminal in the connector to the switch on the column burns out

 

It's likely the headlight switch. However, the recall was for low-beams not working. (as seen here https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-2001-2005-78/faq-low-beam-headlights-dont-work-but-high-beams-parking-lights-do-whats-wrong-1974402/)

Inspect the switch and/or replace it with a different one (new, or used) and see if the problem persists or goes away.

 

Yeah I remember it being the low beams on the recall but my 01 had the same problem as the OP and Honda replaced it under recall anyway and it fixed my problem for the rest of the time I owned that car. Call Honda first see if they are willing to replace it, if not then your on your own.

 

Maybe the OP will luck out and Honda will replace his too.
