cutting out at full throttle
i have an 89 dx with a d16z6/ p28 obd1 swap...the problem is when i go full throttle (foot pinned to floor) the engine cuts off ...however if i lift my foot just slightly its fine...i know that the stock throttle rotor was reused and was wondering if maybe that could be the problem... ive checked the tps and it is functioning properly ....any ideas?
cam timing is dead on stock...tps has never been adjusted as it is also dead on stock...my thought is the heavy foot pressure on the pedal combined with the dx throttle rotor is making it pull past the tps which is why i cant duplicate it when turn the throttle by hand
I had a different problem with my throttle and as a quick fix I just put a spacer behind where the gas pedal bottoms out at full throttle. Obviously your looking for a permanent fix, but this might hold you over till you find the real culprit.
If for some odd reason it might help:
Mine was reading (based on what my SAFC showed) that I was getting over 100% throttle. When I steadily depressed the gas pedal to full throttle it was fine. When I mashed the gas pedal it would go over 100% throw a code and run in safe (rich) mode.

what throttle cable are you using? if it's the dx one, get an Si one. some people run the dx one and I don't know why.
i had this issue, couple things caused it.
1, loose throttle cable.
2, bad spark plug seals. oil was shorting out the spark plugs, don't know if this applies to you though. pull out your plug wires to check for oil on em. simple check.
3, bad o2 sensor. shows a cel though. probably won't apply to you, ha ha.
hope that helps.

Test your tps with a multi meter. My hatch was doing the same exact thing (sohc zc) and my tps was way out of adjustment. It was still the factory tps in the factory location.

sounds like it very well could be in the distributor. you could have a bad coil. or a pickup in the dist. going bad also another common would be the main relay but to me it sounds like maybe distributor.
