Heat Shield Fab question regaurds to thickness

hey guys im building some heat shields for my headers. I was looking at SS roughly .062th witch is 16gu. Is this to thin or what most you guys use for thickness ?

That would be fine. its a bit on the heavy side for just a heat shield.... if you mean skid plate then it is light.

Nope just gonna make a header shield for my J32. I got the sheets for free. I got the sheets today bit thick but just bit longer to cut.
