Default Dusty Engine Bay

My 1992 Accord has a dusty engine bay and I'm afraid to use any engine cleaner that you need to spray down with a hose for fear of damaging sensitive electrical components. I don't have grease, oil or grime, but rather thick dust in most areas of the engine. How would you all recommend cleaning a dusty engine?

Do you have a short ram intake? If so, that's likely the cause of the dust.

Anyway.... go to the carwash, open your hood, and go to town. Try not to spray the distributor, alternator, or exhaust, and you'll probably be fine. I usually wash my engine while the car is running and then go drive around afterwards to let it dry off.

You can cover the battery/distributor/alternator with plastic bags and use a conventional hose sprayer. I've done it successfully.
