switched out power steering rack for manual help!!
I switched out the racks already and ive ran into a problem. The steering u joint where it connects to the rack one side is much larger than the other. My guess is the gears were larger on the power rack. I tried calling Honda and they have two different part numbers for a 98 civic dx but the difference was if it was 5 speed or auto. Let me know what you all have done in the past with this. My buddy said get it for a 98 civic coupe with out power steering. Would that work?
I've done this before on an integra. I took the U-Joint from the car with the manual rack. And that will bolt right up and fit snug.
I bought the rack brand new. so im gonna try calling honda tomorrow and get the one for a ek with no power steering. which model would be best?
^^ agreed. You could even get one out of a junk yard for pretty cheap. They would just be as good as new. Just clean it up and lube it. And I'm sure you already know, but they are easy as hell to take off. Just a couple of min. Good luck.
So I called the dealer this morning and the lady that works in parts is telling me that the universal joints are the same. She asked me if the car is an automatic or manual that's it
