94 prelude spark&fuel&air... wont crank
I have a 94 prelude h22a1 that the timing belt broke i replaced belt put it in time to 100% but car wont start the main relay is brand new im getting fuel im getting good decent spark.. car just turns over and over and has tons compression when u put gas pedal to floor and keep turning it over it actually starts to sputter and try to start but wont.. can someone help i have changed ecu's main relay spark plugs wires tried adjusting ignition timing.. and to weed out the dumb comments i have spark plug wires correct the timing is good its got compression and spark and fuel and air... i dont understand though why it wont run it trys its *** off to crank but just wont just kinda sputters but only does it at wot/ throttle wide open.. plz help me
you checked the fuel pressure? fuel pump? did you check the tdc sensor? you coulda messed that up when doing the timing belt or left it unplugged or something.. fuel filter? injectors?
after my first timing belt i couldnt figure out why it wouldnt start so went over it all and it was my dizzy out 180 i heard they only go in one way but i guess thats wrong...

ok its getting fuel so that means fuel pump is ok and the injectors are squirting fuel.... its getting spark but the spark looks yellowish color and the tdc sensor is in the distributor and so is the cyp and ckp.. and if they werent working you wouldnt get spark.. i have changed ecu plugs wires ive tried everything and it fires and wants to run but wont just keeps cranking.. do you think it could be that the secondary belt that the h22a1 has is not timed with the timing belt.. but yet the timing belt is and is causing it to fire and try to run but do u think because the other belt is not 100% in time its not allowing it to start???? im getting no cel ??? idk im stuck and getting angry ready to push this dang thing off cliff...
helms says to check in this order... ignition system, main relay, fuel pressure, crankshaft position/top dead center/ cycl position circuit, contaminated fuel, at gear position signal, ecm...

random ? but on setting the timing does that secondary belt for balancing shafts have to be timed also.. if so would that cause it to not be starting???
Sounds to me like either the timing belt is off, or the distributor/ ignition wiring is off. Had this problem after trying to get a 85 300zx to run after it had been sitting for 10 years because the last "mechanic" couldnt figure it out after taking it apart. The distributor was out like 120 degrees. Check to make sure you have the ignition wires in their correct place and that the distributor is not out 180 degrees.
ok i tore timing covers down just to redo timing just to make sure its right hopefully this works.... and q16racer-" its getting fuel- ok i pulled fuel rail and tried crankng car and the injectors squirt i also have a pressure gauge on fuel rail.hmm getting fuel.right? ok i pulled plugs put them in wires and start car bam white spark. ok so getting spark right? hmm compression put a commpression checker in spark plug holes bam compression".. only thing is i think the head gasket could be replaced cause compression was a tad low but still plenty to to crank engine just few horses lost lol... im just going to redo my timing and double check and triple check all marks.. timing on these things are a bit tricky this auto tensioner and double belt crap is redicoulouse why couldnt it be like a b16 lol..
yea id for sure go over it all again... i grabbed a new cap and rotor from rock auto like for 12 bucks but might as well take the dizzy off and turn it around while your in there...
The distributor shaft is supposed to be keyed to the cam such that the distributor drive is offset from the camshaft. Here is a pic from the manual, hope it helps. PLEASE don't just take it out and turn it 180deg and reinstall, look at the drive and the camshaft and put it together right! Then we'll keep looking for the problem if that doesn't fix it.
ok i got it running finally the timing was off on belt by few teeth got it back into time and changed my plug wires again and it fired right up but it idles and sounds like its running under water literally (sounds like its blowing bubbles) and has no power at all and if you rev it up and let off pedal the car dies. what could this be?? it has no power at all..
Make sure the distrbutor is timed correctly. Running timing to far retarded will run really smooth, but make no power. Get a timing light and check it off the crank. If you need to adjust it, you can just loosen the bolts holding the distributor and turn it, it has slotted holes to accomidate this. GL

Well since you were off timing the first time and u said u were 100% I would go back and check the timing AGAIN... go tdc on everything again and make sure your all good just did the same thing on mine was advanced one tooth on my intake side and I was getting popping out my intake..
