civic makes a loud sound when start the engine
Hi and good day to all.
Last night I drove my car in a flooded area (which is a very stupid thing to do), after driving it a a mile and a half, it stop on me. The engine will go through but something is stopping it to do so and it also smells like something got burnt. Last week, I can hear this weird sound near the belt (at the right side of my car when facing it), sounds like something is jiggling inside but i don't know what it is, went to auto shop they told me they did not hear anything. A guy help me out and look at my car and he told me that the pulley on the AC side is not turning on, meaning it is stuck, he also told me its not the engine since my car start, would it be a bad starter or water pump? a guy told me something is not engaging on the pulley (sorry i don't know how to describe it in a technical way).
This morning my car starts but of course its making a loud noise. I just wanna call the towing company and drop it at auto repair but I don't want to get rip off....
What could be the issue?
Thanks for all who will respond.

You might have got some water in the engine and hydro-locked a cylinder. You're looking at a rather costly repair, if this is the case. Without knowing the type of sounds the car is making, its tough to say if the engine needs to be replaced or not... but you're definitely looking at some form of repair.

OP, without hearing the noise, there's really no way we can diagnose it. However, it's possible that water caused something to seize, and you won't be able to drive it much without issues. Have you driven it? What kind of power's it got?
Hydro-locking the engine could have caused a connecting rod to snap, to be honest. An engine could still fire with a snapped rod.
Why driving it in a flooded area (coz I did
) as I mentioned is a stupid thing to do, but thanks for all the post, my AC compressor was the main issue, anyone knows how much an AC compressor for a honda civic 05 LX would cost me? the labor is already painful
and nope ain't a bummer dude, a bummer gal.

You can get a re-man at the autoparts store for about $150. Or you can get new OEM at an online dealer like this: http://www.hondapartscheap.com/south...t=0&quantity=0
