Default Update everyday, legitly. Project EG hatch.

Bought a 94 EG hatch for my OWN birthday present this year.. I had a 99ex for YEARS through my younger years and modded it from rice to jdm to totaled. Told myself I would never get back into the game, but, here we are. I'm getting older and **** a porche, I rock honda pre-mid-life-crisis. Here's the brief story on the car...

Many weeks on craigslist/ht/ohiohondas... Many flakes or what I call pre sales(sell before I get there). I finally come across a hatch w/ a description of 3 things that popped out... FRESH paint, b18b1 swap, and minor issues. That really grab my attention because I DID NOT want anything with honda rust. I wanted a hatch(to gut) and ****, if its swapped already, why not.. So I purchased it. Brought my buddy that stayed in the game because I know if I drove it, I'd just be happy, not worried about what was wrong. He shot the thumbs up, we're golden.

Well more was wrong then listed(as always). Here's a immediate/small list...
1) No locks(lost them during paint, the car is not stolen, checked)
2) Starter is bad(push start only)
3) Interior is nasty
4) No Turn signals
5) Integra underdash+whack *** non fitting integra cluster????(still DO NOT get why?)
6) Grind into third @ full throttle
7) Leaks Oil(valve cover gasket)
8) ugly *** stickers, rice ****

I have fixed 1-2-3-7-8.. Waiting on underdash(have stock cluster). Hopefully it helps with turn signals/hazards. Transmission will wait for winter build. PICS will follow but I work daily on this car.

After getting out all the alarm wiring+new starter intalled... I started on the carpet, wouldn't clean up, so I got a dollar can of spray paint. Worked. I also cut it mid way under the front seats because I will be keeping it gutted in the rear.
Before:

After Finished.dirty

Engine bay before more tuck+heat wrap intake(will be adding a vstack or nicer filter soon)

more tuck for your buck(+fixed headlight ground/socket)

Now with the wrap

The interior harness(spiders to the back) was also a complete mess. Cut wires here, plugs here and there. All I know is my taillights still work so I'm okay with that for now, so I went ahead and did a tuck on the rear... It came out vverry nice, may just need to get a can of milano red and repaint but its okay for now.
Before

After(anyone have any info on the tucking the fuel harness?)

Thanks man. It is def a clean base and that is 100% why I picked her up. Paint is very decent aside from some scuffs and orange peel(which doesnt bother me). I just need to get a can of milano + a thing of touch up paint and spend a day on the little spots.

Once I get all this wiring done... lol.. Wheels, new suspension, lip+duckbill(or might paint stock one). I'm already over 500 in with just getting it, where it needs to be(personally). It's taking a lot of discipline not to jump the wagon on some cpr's or function form 1's...

Basically I started with un clipping the rear tailights and the clip going to the fuel in the middle. So now you have 6+ feet of a harness coming from the seatbelt area/side of driversside seat. I pulled it it all even and threw on a zip tie every foot so it would stay together while I tucked it(instead of having loose ends get caught everywhere). Then I ran it into where the rear seat side panel would normally be and there is a small hole that runs over the rear fender well and exits right on top of the driverside taillight. From there I just ran and clipped everything where it belonged and used the factory ties+zip ties to secure it under the hatch door.

Need you to swing up my way and tuck my wires for me! Looks great!!!!

Any pics/tips on tucking the engine/headlight harnesses?

Keep it up! Ohio needs more serious Hondas. Most everyone up this way has sold theirs off.

I did a jank/easy way of tucking the headlights w/o pulling off the fenders, I can get pics later when I get home. I might still do a full legit tuck but probably not until I pull the motor(if I do) in the winter. Yeah, I live in dayton and there really are only a few hondas left worth a ****.

HA I was thinking the same thing. I saw it like 3 days after I bought it and was like hmm... Someone had this fu*ker boosted.. Makes me wonder about the motor(if its built @ all?) because the block is VERY clean, like new clean... It also pulls very hard, not to mention its light as ****. Doesnt burn any oil and the only leak I could find(vcover), I fixed.

I dont like the bys either but I wouldn't mind an aftermarket one even though I'm leaning on painting the stock one. She out of commission till I find out the wiring harness issue but anytime after that. My one buddy has a midori green ek/16swap/gutted/cpr's thats clean as **** and hes always cruising down to cinci.

yeah I couldn't pass it up for wanting to get back into the game.. It's been years and I never had that PROJECT car that could just be parked torn apart for days on end. Now I do and it even made me clean up my daily(4dr 97) because my respect is back for cars.

Nothing crazy today.. just got her back on the road because come to find out, the whole car is an integra wiring harness so I am stuck with the integra cluster. I mod'd some plastic from an extra eg piece I had so it looks "better" then just having a jank cluster + hole above the climate control. I'll get pics tomorrow along with the two minor tucks.
