I have a friend that has an 1992 accord that has a charging issue that runs if jumped but its not getting 14 volts and the alternator works i had it checked so my question is that green plug in the back of the alternator, can it cause the alt not to charge and if so how do i check the harness side or what should i look for i think it has something to do with that green plug

 

how did you check the alternator?

did you remove it and have it bench tested at autozone for free?

yes it can be that plug and any part of the wiring (grounds & to the battery of course) if the alternator is confirmed to be putting out ~14 V on a bench-tester...

ok, bring the whole vehicle in and do the load test with the alternator plugged in; the local autozone will pull the whole cart out to test your vehicle's alternator and battery in the parking lot for free as well

advance auto parts do it for free in my area as well

check/recheck the connections to the battery, look for continuity from the battery to the alternator

it has continuity from neg to alt housing/batt pos to alt pos connection and batt neg to alt housing but know i have to fully charge the batt to make it to autozone

thats why i was feeling that the green plug is a swicth of some type cause i dont have a helms on hand as of yet so is there a way to test the green plug inputs to see if they are receiving or connected right

example where do they go what are there purpose

 

And the manual says......when the car is running, what is the voltage "from" the alt?

Key on, BLK/YEL (on the connector) to ground reads?
