i was thinking about putting a b16 or b18 on a ef(hatchback), and what tranny? would the engine even fit? im a noob on this whole Jdm and honda **** lol

I'd recommend leaving the original motor.

 

I'm swapping an lsv in an ef hatch right now. A da teg trans cause it's cable. I have the hookup on swap mounts. Pm me if you need some.

 

D16z6 with a SI tranny converted to obd1 is a good set up for an EF.
Or a b16a with matching tranny.
Not the quickest setups, but pretty good for EF's.

Theyre good and light engines (highly underestimated) for autocross or daily driving. Had a 89 dx with obd1 z6, si tranny, buddy club p1's w/ azenis, skunk2 struts and h&r race springs, that thing handled alot of other civic with dohc swaps on the track ....

But all depends on his plans with the car. Im just stating swaps that ive seen work out really good.

Dohc zc cheap,easy,light, quick for what it is. Si trans + I/H/E you could probably keep up with a b18.

 

Y8 head milled .030 I/H/E bisi 3 cam would eat a stock b18
