Engine stalls when stopped at a light
heres my problem !!! the car still has factory motor in it i have over 400,000 miles on motor no sure way to tell as the odometer does not work all the time... anyways the car will run fine driving but when stop at light car will die and i will have to let car sit for about 5 to 6 mins before it will start again today the car died and wouldnt start for about 4 hrs (after sittin in shade for an hr) took ignition mod out had it tested it tested bad replaced that and car runs worse then it did with the bad one in it! the car idles at almost 0! the ac works but if i have the ac on the car has NO power whatsoever! (keep in mind the car has no power to begin with but even worse when ac is running) any ideas that i can do myself before taken it to shop and spending hella money to figure out whats wrong???? thanks in advance
sounds like the fuel pump relay is taking a ****.. When it wont start, do you hear the fuel pump prime? you should hear it in the backseat area. This happened to a friend of mine..
as far as the low idle, theres a set screw on the throttle body. wait till the car is at operating temp and then adjust a little higher.
400k miles, i think you got ur useage outta that car!

i have the screw as far as it will go!! i just cleaned the tb and stuff car is idle'n better now but it seems to only happen when its really hot out side or if i drive the car alot!!! took off fuel line today when it wouldnt start the fuel pump is still working!!! service engine soon light is not coming on, i dont know what else it could be!!! yes i got alot out of this car!!! but motor still runs great (when it starts lol) no ticking knocking nothing!!!
might be the distrib igniter. those dont last forever..
air, fuel, spark is what makes the engine run.. next you need to see if its getting spark
Edit: if you know of someone with the same engine, trade distributors just to see if thats the problem.
Im assuming the proper tune up maintenance has been done: plugs, wires, rotor and cap.

yes all tune up has been done and i just changed the ignition mod that is in side the distributor gettin spark gettin gas and gettin air lol im at a loss!!! like i said its weird cuz it only does it when its really hott outside or when the car has been driven alot!!! mainly when its hot outside
when it doesnt start, does it turn over or do you just get a clicking sound? do you hear the fuel pump prime? ive had this prolem before but never found the problem. good luck!
When the engine dies after warmup, the ignition coil (mounted on the distributor) is suspect. If your ignition coil is at least seven years old, just replace it. Buy only OEM ignition parts. They will pay for themselves in longevity.
Consider a new OEM distributor housing, too. The wiring for the housing wears over time. The engine's performance approves drastically upon replacing an old housing. The housing is not too expensive for 92-95 DX and LX Civics; around $120.
Note: Ignition module = igniter. Make sure the igniter's heat sink is properly installed. It is not normally a problem, but stuff happens.
