I just bought a car and it has a few problems. Vtec will not engage and smokes when its in the high rpms only. Its a jdm B16a. Also has a fluctuating idle sometimes. So i went to Advance and tried to see if i had any codes throwing and the scanner couldnt read anything. I've also notice that the check engine light doesn't even come on when the key is on. so i checked to see if it had a bulb or if it was burnt out. It had a bulb and the bulb was good cause i switched out with the oil light one and it worked. So what could be the problem?

 

Jdm ecu? They use a different software so those scanners wont work!

Its a p30 from a b16a jdm spec engine obd1... Dont really know what else to say or explain?

if the car is obd2 with obd1 ecu it wont read..

 

Shouldnt i have a cel light come on, when i turn my key on, no matter if the ecu diagnosis plug / ecu cant read ?

yes, your cel light should come on when you turn the key. at least it did on mine and then went off

 

Well mine doesn't come on at all. Even with it jumped in the blue plug or when i turn the key on. I know the bulb is good be cause i replaced it. what else is causing this?

Did you check that the CEL actually works? I'm not talking about the bulb.

Yes i read it. I will check again to make sure the that the wire is connectected. will this wire be on my original ecu plug or the jumper plug?

 

ok im trying to check a13 but im confused . i have a 00 civic cx. it has a b1a swap. When looking at the harness i have 4 plugs in the jumper but one doesnt go to anything its like a empty plug. Is this harness a automatic? Is my "A" plug harness the one that is the one connected to the cabin harness? a13
