Hey, guys... It's been along time coming for my car. The build started out in 2009 with its up and downs along this expensive journey, lol...
Finally the car is coming together after 2 years. 2 years of having the wrong set up to the wrong people touching the car. It wasn't until a year ago that Orlando from BY Tuning helped me out and fabrication and wiring to get the car straight. If it wasn't for him the car would not be where it is today. Then to complete the puzzle it was about tuner. There are soooo many amazing guys in our industry, but picking someone close to me was a disaster. You know being in Canada with our egg gloos and all... So, last year I was talking Clayton about Jason Hunt and what he thought? He said "heck yeah" in his Canadian accent :p
So, ever since I hooked up with Jason Hunt and Charlie Schafer, it has been nothing but positive. They've really taken their time to help as well as teach me about the car and racing itself. So this year in May I headed down to Maryland to Jason's place. He tuned the car, did the alignment, scaled and went over the car with me. Explaining now that I needed a driver now after he tuned it, hahaha very funny! The first race for me was a Canadian local event CSCS, so I begged Jason to come up and luckly Charlie was coming up this way too so it just worked out... At the CSCS event we got 3 hits on the fresh set up, 2 of them he had a sensor issue with the AMS 1000. Once, it was fixed I went 10.0@156 and then we ran out of time because Jason had a flight to catch. Thank you again Charlie :-) for taking him to the airport.
Then this past weekend was my first American debut! 16th annual Summer Slam, an OGS event :-) I was so excited, but nervous at the same time. I was worried about what people thought because of my build. You know how people are... Oh ****, you spent that much and only went that fast??? LOL... I didn't want to hear that... With an awesome 10 hour drive, including 2 hour hold up at the boarder I made it to Etown at 4pm missing first qualifying! So, I got there and everyone was in the staging lanes... Everyone is looking at me as I'm coming in, I thought oh crapppppp.... LOL... So, I got in unloaded and got the car ready with Jason's help. Went for 2nd round and hit a 9.8@140 with some issues. I qualified 5th lol... Not bad I guess. The following morning we had another qualifier at 10am, I went out again and it ran 9.90@156. I came back to the pits and Jason made some adjustments. Next round was eliminations, I got a by somehow and pulled a 9.55@158! I was like "heck yeah" lol... This run we had 27 psi on the car.
So I got on to moving to the quarters racing Rick Everley, I thought man... I gotta go up against him? Alright whatever... I thought to myself, I wish Avon didn't bring up that new NLR for Everley, JK :p Rick had an issue Saturday with the boost controller and with some awesome friends he got a new one on Sunday. Anyway... So we stage 1st bulb, I loaded on the car bumped in on the 2nd bulb and my jitters got me.... I slipped off the clutch and unloaded the car. He was gone! Damnit! But on that run with him I had ran low on C02 and we had about 22 psi on that run... I ended up running 9.7@153
Overall I had an amazing weekend at Etown, I got some little things to work out. We'll see you all at MIR Import Revolution and Honda Day after that in August.
I would like to thank the following people/companies:
- Avid Racing for their support with financial and the time to go racing. I use our Pro-Series mounts as well as traction bars and everything else that we make :-)
- Orlando @ By Tuning for his fabrication and wiring on the car!
- Jason Hunt and Charlie Schafer for tuning, track support and their know how! These guys have been around and know it...
- Rob @ JDMCARS.com for his support on everything that I needed :-)
- Wil @ Exospeed Racing for the beautiful wheels and 3pc front end.
- Frank and the boyz @ DSS, the Pro Level Axles are amazing. These things are bullet proof and knowing that I won't break them when I'm 10 hours or more away from home gives every racer a piece of mind.
- Tony Shagday @ Skunk2! We run everything Skunk2, cams, valvetrain, camber kit arms, LCA's you name it! Those Skunk2 bumpsticks make incredible power!
- Carey/Reza @ FTP NYC for getting me parts that I couldn't get! These guys are very reliable...
- Tony @ T1 for his hardcore race parts :-)
Joel@Speed Theory and Tommy @ JRP USA...
I would also like to give the biggest thank you ever! Too my gf Katie, being so supportive when I come home late nights and her on leaving weekends. Also, to my family and friends for all their support :-)
Sorry guys hopefully I didn't ramble on too much... LOL

Congrats man. It's been a while that I've seen the setup and I know you changed some things. Can you rundown the setup again?
What power did the car end up making? That mph at 27psi makes me realize I have some issues to work on with mine

Congrats on the PB, I saw you running @ CSCS and I knew it was only a matter of time for it to run mid-low 9s
The question now is how fast will it go @ Cayuga?

Thanks guys, I can't wait until we really push it. BABY steps right now... There are soo many great competitors in this class, it'll definitely be hard to keep up.
I gotta check it... The slip is still in the car. I'll post that up soon.
My set up is pretty simple, everything is off the shelf. I do not have anything that someone else couldn't buy.
It's a K24 sleeved Z10 block. Manley Turbo tuff rods, pistons, stock head w/ Skunk2 Stg 3 cams and valvetrain. PTE 4275 w/1.44 AR, Tial twin 44mm WG, Tial BOV, Burnstainless Exhaust manifold, ID2000's on VP Import, Weldon 2035 w/2047 regulator, DSS Pro's w/diff, Tilton Carbon/Carbon and PPG dog box. It's on Kpro, NLR AMS 1000 with MSD DIS 4 tuned by Jason Hunt! Let me know if you wanna anything else.
Hahahaha I'll try this weekend...
That's ABUSE! I'm gonna report you :p
