Default B20/vtec turbo build setup okay?

Picking up a b20vtec swapped teggy. Currently just running stock components with itr style pistons and ctr cams with sk2 intake mani. however this is what i was debating on to set it up for a turbo application, or if im better off to make a decent N/A all motor on it.. let me know what you think i should change or something else i should add, or your 2 cents on this setup vs an all motor setup.

B20 block
Gsr Head (maybe port and polish)
Ctr cams
Golden Eagle H-beam rods
ARP Rod bolts
ARP Head studs
JE 9:7:1 Pistons
Skunk2 Intake manifold

What kind of power do you think i could crank out of a setup like this with a good tune at a safe psi? Also how reliable would this be?

Thanks

Also i would obviously upgrade the fuel/oil/water pump, as well as possibly change the injectors to like a 550cc?

Thanks, but thats already been read. The car is already a b20/vtec. I was asking about the build for turbo application in specific. Not how to do a reliable b20v build.

Then why would you ask if you need to change oil and water pump?

My mistake i should have been more specific. I put the question mark for the size of the injectors for a turbo application, i was just stating i would change the oil/water pump. I'll take a look at that thread though!

b20 sleeves aren't fragile if the tune is done correct and the car is well taken care of.

B20 sleeves can be just as strong as anything else. Plenty of 400+whp stock b20 sleeve cars running around..

B20 sleeves have "1" down fall, they are **** to low rpm/high load knock. What this means is , basically if you're in 3rd or 4th gear at like 2k rpms, dont mash it. If you do mash it, you'll hear "knock" or pebbles on a tin roof sound. Like all motors, a tune is important. Everything needs to be checked and rechecked..if you plan on pushing the limits you need to do it wisely.

@wantboost: Thanks i actually didnt know that.. But Yeah after doing a little bit of looking around and reviewing all motor setups thats pretty much out the window.. especially beings that its going to be my DD

@everyone else: Im not looking to make over 400whp, unless of course i can do so without over pushing the motor at all. I plan on going with a safe boost (6-8psi) or so for daily driving. And maybe having it tuned at a higher psi for taking it to the track. & ill go with a higher cc injector. I'll make as much power as i can 100% safely on the most reliable setup. Im not one looking to blow up my motor to crank the extra hp out of the setup.

Another question i have is if the car currently has itr style pistons 11:1 would i be okay to boost on that safely or is it worth the extra money to go with low comp pistons? & how much more beneficial would it be power wise?

With 11:1 in there, i wouldnt go past 5lbs.
I would start at 550cc or 650cc injectors
do not have it tuned for more boost for the track or youll be sorry u did
do some research on why boosting a high comp stock block is a

Everyone now and days, is boosting higher compression motors. More eff. and you're making MORE power at lower boost levels..

Chris miller had a motor around 14.1CR that he had turboed.. he's one of the fastest hondas on the planet.. read up on why its better to run some compression on a turbo setup.

yea, but not on a B20 which is what i was refering to.

Id love the quicker spool of higher comp. but not going to happen without hours of extensive tuning.

Inline pro sells a nice head gasket that will lower your cp ratio to a point where you'll be just fine. Plenty of stock ITR motors that are boosted making 350+

I put down 302 to the wheels boosting 9lbs on a 61lb/min turbo by TheShodan. I had almost the same setup as you but I ran Skunk2 Tuner1 cams. It's all in the tune, man. There is a guy on here making over 500 on a stock sleeved b16...once again, great tune!

I want more power so I swapped out the b20 for a sleeved GSR bottom end. Oh yeah, the b20 will be going in another car & I'm more than happy with the results. Too many people on HT don't actually do the work but instead 'theorize' things. The difference between Doers & Thinkers!
