EX 10.3" vs Si 9.5" brakes AutoX
So, since I started autocrossing last year, I've had these 90-91 Civic EX spindles and brakes on my SMF class CRX. I love the feel and stopping power, but I'm powered by NA SOHC so I'm trying to lose as much weight as the class will allow. I know the 10.3" brakes are a bit heavier and its unsprung and rotational mass. I guess my question is will I still have adequate stopping power if I go back to the OEM 9.5" brakes with good pads. I already use ATE fluid and SS braided lines, and can fairly easily lock up my Star Specs, but I'm looking to switching to R comps as I progress in driving skills and money, lol. I don't think I'l have fade issues since I'm usually a single driver car with usually only 4 or 5 times per run I'm hard on the brakes.
Is it worth the trade-off for the weight loss to ditch the larger brakes for the smaller, lighter brakes?

You'll be just fine. It's just an Autox. You could run 5", non-ventilated rotors and get the job done.
Ran stock rotors on an ITA CRX (9.5") in a 12 hour road race enduro... so yea, you're gonna be OK.

Hmm I thought so. I never really pushed my car before the swap, and never autocrossed it before I went to the 10.3"s either, but I figure with a good pad and properly bled fluid it would be ok.
^Haha I wish, I'm on a pretty tight budget, the next step will be some R comps, probably pull-offs. I still have some stock spindles laying around I may toss back on soon. Had I gotten into autocross before I started building this motor, I would've went a different route with the engine, but hey, you play the cards dealt right?

Since you are in SMF already!
