d16y8, comes out of 2nd easily
99 civic ex, d16y8. about 120k. 5spd.
i've noticed recently that the shifter comes out of 2nd gear easily. mainly when im in a low rpm or turning slow corners, going through a parking lot, intersections.. things like that..
at first i thought i was pushing it out of gear because i keep my hand on the shifter, but ive realized that is not the case, the car will sometime just pop out of 2nd. and 2nd only...
any thoughts, questions, comments or ideas??
TIA

I've seen a lot of these now, mostly in Y8s, Transmission has to be taken apart and you'll need to stake the case around the bearing in a few places with a center punch. Plan on replacing at least one bearing if not more and the seal under the input shaft bearing at a bare minimum. Ideally check everything else over as well.
ok, yeah i was lookin at the rebuild kits, the one from synchrtech looks good.
what exactly does staking the case do? this will be my first tranny rebuild. kinda looking forward to this.
