I finished Pikes Peak in my R
editing the gopro footage right now, 34% done, i'll have a youtube post shortly... was the most intense racing week of my life, but surely lots of fun. still haven't comprehended the whole thing, or gotten used to not waking up at 2:30am for practice runs

Thats good stuff. I was wondering whos R that was. I had a local friend go up it in a Subie this year as well. Sucks this was the last year for a partial gravel/dirt surface.
Congratulations!!!!!!
What was your time? I assume your Type R doesn't have 910 hp? :-p
Here was 2011's record setting run by Monster Tajima.

Props to you for entering this event!
Most people don't know that the Pikes Peak Hill Climb is the oldest race event in the U.S. Driving up the road to Pikes Peak at normal speed is a spectacular drive, much less at motorsports competition speeds! I heard they were planning to cancel the Pikes Peak Hill Climb event, is that correct?

Well it seems my computer crashed overnight while compressing the video, so I have some more work to do on that.
The week was crazy, and I wasn't without my problems... First day, fried the ICM somehow. Second day, MAP sensor went batty at 13,000 ft and basically kept shutting off the car mid-run. Third day, put a hole in the bottom of the tranny. Got that all fixed and managed to finish on Sunday, but slowly, as the MAP sensor continued to freak out in the upper section and cost me a ton of power. In the end, it was a 14:54, which is a really crappy time. But if you look at the splits, I was killing it in the lower section, ahead of a bunch of cars with way more HP, but once I hit about 12,500-13,000, I just had nothing. I'm primarily a rally racer, so the dirt was where I made up the most time on people. I'll be back next year much better prepared with sensors/tune/electronics that can handle boost at a very high altitude, and of course, a different suspension since it will all be paved. I have not heard that rumor of the PPIHC being canceled. Actually, this year had record entries and attendance. 79 rookies, about 200 total drivers/riders. It was a blast!
Oops, Edit to answer some previous posts... I wish I had 910hp!!! In Denver I dynoed at 289whp/219tq. I'm in SW Denver, ran into a bunch of ITR fans up there in the pits and on the way down the mountain.

WTF that is totally going to ruin it! It is a lot easier to setup a car for just asphalt and it kind of takes away from the driving skill and drifting in the dirt section. Plus all the previous records will be blown away.
