my son was given a clean 1988 civic hatchback that has been sitting for the last 5 years. i replaced the dist, plugs, battery, plug wires. timing is set right, engine turns over fine but there is no spark there is power going into the dist but nothing going out. the wiring looks good all the fuses are good, cant figure it out. i was told the crank sensor may be bad and my book doesnt show where it is or what it looks like, any ideas what i can check to fix this would really help. thanks

Did you replace the dizzy as a whole or just the dizzy cap? The Crank Sensor is in the dizzy.

 

Not always - the early models - 87 into 88 - could have the separate sensor as shown on the diagram. At least they do on the jdm and aus models

Crank sensor is in the dizzy. Now did you replace the dizzy with a rebuilt/remanufactured one or another used one?

 

Grounds?? Or dizzy, or wiring. Possibly ecu but doubtful. Is it dpfi or mpfi?

 

hi i replaced the dizzy with a remanufactured one, all fuses are good, connections are clean, it had no spark at all when my son got the car the check engine light stays on the book says to pull hazzard fuse for ten secs to reset codes but it stays onn still. and when i turn the key on to count the flashes on the ecu nothing happens it doesnt light up at all and it is getting power to the dizzy but nothing comming out. also it says pgm pi on the motor. im about ready to give up, im not good at all with electrical problems
