Default for a B16 swap into a 89 CRX, do i REALLY have to hammer into the shock tower?

I am planning on swapping a B16 into a 1989 CRX DX but i heard that i would have to hammer into the passenger side shock tower for the alternator to fit. While reading some articles on how to do a B16 swap, some of them do not mention this. Structural integrity is very important to me. So do I have to do it for the swap? thanks.

I had to beat in the drivers side frame in the engine bay to make the alternator fit in my crx
im pretty sure you have to in all B series swaps/

not the shock tower but near the lower frame rail

i've heard you can just a run a shorter belt and you won't need to hammer anything, but i can neither confirm or deny that lol.

You have to dent it no matter what. The alternator mount bracket has to be adjusted just about all the way down its bracket to work with the shortest belt you can buy which allows it to just fit.
