Default A2AwA2W setup can this work?

I was talking with couple friends of mines and one of them suggested using an
A2A intercooler and A2W setup also, he hasnt done it no one i know have done that, I told him I dont think that will work, I believe it would create to much LOG in the system I dont know. All of this to help lower the intake temps.
Has anyone every tried a setup like that?
Would this be something to even try?
I think its either one or the other.
Can I get some expert opinion on this please thank you

OK why will there be no point, his logic is that the intake temps will be on a consistant low - Dont know.
I feel its one or thee other, but this is a guy that make things happen he has put a Bseries into a volkswagen before and it worked, until his lil brother crqashed it that was about 3 yrs running.

If he put a B series in a VW he must know what hes talking about. But why not run 3 or 4 intercoolers. Maybe even run the ac directly into the turbo Ive heard it works to lower temps.

Because as a whole A2As are no where near as efficient as W2As are.

Throw your buddy for a loop, tell him you'd rather just run dual W2As. It makes more sense than the arguement he's putting up that's for sure.

A2W is more efficient. If the car has A2W why would it need a A2A. If his thought is that one will cool the air and then the other will cool it some more then he's in luck. They already make that, its called a "bigger intercooler." Your friend's logic is alittle lacking. Whatever cooling can be done with two intercoolers can also be done with one big one.

air to air is only able to cool the charge down to near ambient temperature. air to water has the potential to bring it down below ambient.

probably not worth it on the street.

Only with ice, but a2w on street cars just have heat exchangers. So both can only get down to ambient temp in a street application.

Can I stress how excrutiatingly difficult it is for an A2A to get your charge to ambient temp? It just moves through way too fast and there isn't anywhere near enough heat transfer to get the job done in the amount of time it has.

The A2W is far superior because water can absorb a ton of heat before its temperature actually begins to rise. Also it is limited by the temperature of the water, not temperature of the air.

There is nothing "wrong" with his method persay, but it's just not efficient enough to be worth doing. Think about how much extra work the turbo is going to have to do.

If you're buddy wants to do something cool, tell him to build a full sleeve around his entire intercooler piping system and have a pump that runs water through the entire length of the sleeve, that way he'll encase his whole intercooler system in water. There, now he can be cool (pun intended).

there really isnt room in our platform for this to work, unless you use a pwr barrel a2w and i havent really heard shining things about them.
you somehow have to stuff (in this order) air-air, air-water heat exchanger, radiator. and somehow expect the heat exchagner to get cool enough air and have the radiator do the same....
