Default Un-installing a Viper alarm?

Got a viper alarm.. Was told it was broken, so want to remove it... Basically I have a wire mess with this new project and under the dash, is probably the worse. I have a viper alarm, some satellite receiver, some bosch harness/module, and a lot of spliced wires.. Where do I start? Or should I just cut the horn out of the engine bay and tape off the wires and put the dash back up/on?

Dude just remove the viper alarm brain and trace each wire back to where it meets up with the factory wring and repair each wire one by one.I mean how can you be concerned enough to want to remove the alarm but not enough to do the job right?

I hated the Viper on the DelSol I bought and removed it by tracing the wires back from the brain. It took about 45 minutes but was worth it to get rid of all the excess mess hidden up under the dash. My Viper system worked but it went straight to the garbage anyway.

I've never dealt with an alarm before, that's why I was asking. I am concerned with doing it right, but if it was more a hassle than a pleasure... that was the question. So any wire basically running into the steering column harness, cut, repair. I will probably do this tomorrow night/Monday. Appreciate the help.

Yeah what a ****ing mess? Like who wants that?! Did yours have a satellite receiver too? or is that ANOther thing I need to look into? I have a viper "brain" and another "satellite" receiver.

I believe the satellite receiver you speak of is for the remote start system. You could rewire the system yourself and clean up the mess with wire loom and some time.

An easy way to clean up the mess if you would like to keep the alarm is to remove all unused wires from the harness at the plug. It's easy to do, all you need is a small screwdriver. After you remove the unused wires shorten all the others, I have a viper alarm with remote start in my Del Sol and it hardly takes up any room and it is tucked so far out of the way it is completely out of mind.

Sorry, I misread the post. If the alarm does have remote start installed you need to be careful with cutting and re splicing, some installers get creative with solenoid bypasses and it can turn into a real headache.

most newer installs are less intrusive. there will be 3 wires that will be cut, start, clutch, and on. others are simply taped into (1 wire lead to receive a signal). disconnect your battery. if you need wiring diagrams, they are available. only if you ask...
