Hey I have a 97(?) odyssey van and the drive light started flashing w/a CEL.

I understand this can be a number of things...

Does anyone know why this is happening?

 

take it to the dealership.

Likely a problem in the transmission.

 

i own six 1st gen odyssey vans. i would rather figure out what the problem is because there's a good chance i'll have to deal with it again.

this is the oldest 1st gen i own btw, 276k miles and still running strong.

 

btw no it isn't under warranty, and i do all my work myself, i don't have money for the stealership.

You say the Check Engine Light is on, do you know what code(s) is stored?

Traction control module Valve B

I read the code, cleared it, and the problem has not re-surfaced yet. I will post the code exactly if the problem returns but I would still like to know a basic idea of what this means etc.. because I have 6 of these odysseys and i may see the problem again in the future...

You'll have to give me the exact code when it returns. I don't want to get hung up in diagnosing an assumption, that tends to get people in trouble. I hope you understand.
