starting promblems
hello out there,i drive a 92 accord ex 5 speed (286000miles).Ive had starting issues lately.About a year ago my distributor was crap (wasnt getting gas/oil) changed out the cap and cleaned the connectors in the distributor itself.Work just fine until about a week ago.Car will start just fine, run just fine.I will admit it does idle around 500rpms or less when i noticed the problem. Then i go to the bank.Turn my car off go to re-start,my starter and battery will be engaging just fine, but for some reason my car wont start, like im not getting spark. This happened the other day when a friend was with me,he was giggling the ground and my car fired right up.Then went to the store same thing happened, couldnt get it to start, had to get a jump and the car fired up after two cranks. Any thoughts or ideas would be great.I can hear the fuel pump turn on,lights on the daseboard.I will say this though when i changed my distributor,if my check engine light didnt come on,i know i was out of oil. I dont know where to start please help....
Check your battery grounds. If it started with your friend jiggling the wires and it started with a jump I would think it was a ground or a battery issue. Take your battery out and take it to autozone. They will check it for you at no charge.
took off and cleaned battery terminals, reconnected terminals, tightened everything down including the ground.Thank you for the thought also, ive noticed my key is sticking in the start position.Read some other posts on this forum, realized its probably the switch on the steering wheel or the key, might be off a smidge..broke the original key 4 months ago,got a copy made cant unlock doors but turns the key just fine just fine sometimes or other time sticks, any thoughts?
