Default Rod bearing service interval

How often should I be pulling the caps and inspecting bearings on a sleeved shop car with turbo tuff steel rods?

Has ~100 passes and ~4k miles on the street @ 515-600whp

About to bump it up into the 700whp range.

Its running ACL Race bearings, 10w30 castrol non synthetic and a oem honda filter.

Its been the best engine I have owned so far, I'd like to keep it in good shape.

Thank you for your time,
DK

might be a good idea but honeslty they should not fail unless the oil pump fails or you over rev it.

Are you seeing any abnormal wear @ 60 hits?

Thank you. I currently rev it to 9.5k. I've got a ati dampener but I'm hoping to not have to rev it much higher.

Hopefully it will last the rest of this season, then while its down for the winter I will refresh it all.

My daily driver, granted its not a honda but shouldnt matter, making 550whp, had over 100 passes on it, countless bursts on the street, almost 11k miles and when i dissasembled to refresh things since the motor was out of the car the rod bearings and crank were absolutely perfect. No wear or even signs of wear. I was using Eagle rods as well with ACL standard race bearings, non coated. Using a high volume and high pressure oil pump that comes standard on the sr20ve. Using mobil 1 15w50 oil its entire life. Everything looked immaculate including cylinder walls and piston skirts.

If you dont have an oil pump failure, your oil clearances are good, and you dont over rev it, you shouldnt need to change them.

But if you have the motor out of the car then why not, doesnt hurt and bearings are fairly cheap.

Engine is def not out of the car, fab work just got finished going from a 67 to a 72. All it needs is staging brake lines and rear wheel studs and I can make some passes in it.

If you need to replace bearings then you may need a new engine builder or a new tuner...

when i used oem rod bearings i would notice them wear down pretty good on the middle of the upper rod bearing. tolerances around .0017. this was after like 10k miles.

after i switched to acl race bearings i dont have anywhere near as much wear with roughly the same tolerances.

It is just clearance not a engine build !
If i need to build a new engine when I Check or change rod bearing, I would also change the engine each Time I change engine oil!
