Alot's going to come into play.... What kinda power the car is making? What's the motor revving too? What size tire will you be running?

Generally speaking, I would stay away from a ls trans period... Anything under 400whp a b16 trans wouldnt be a bad choice, anything over I'd go with a gsr... Like I said, that's just a general I idea... All the factors above would play a role in picking the "ideal" gear set

Im making over 550 with mine. I have:

1st LS
2nd LS
3rd B16
4th B16
5th LS (for highway, not that it matters)
FD LS

Pretty much a B16 with an LS final, but I wanted the longer 2nd. I rev to 9500. Around 9k-9200 Im trapping 139.

I have the GSR 4.40 final drive , but I'm unsure which gear ratios mount with GSR final drive!

Personally, I would try to find a complete gsr gearset... an ls will be way too tall and you would probably run out of gear with a b16 set with that kinda power/setup

B16 gears are too short, LS gears are too long. B16 gears with and LS final are ok, or go with GSR gears. Really no other option as far as OEM gearsets.

You also don't mention what kind of power you're putting down or what tires. That would be pretty helpful. I'm sure you have more than 200hp/200 ft/lb of tq to spin those LS gears.

What is the size of your tire and how many revolutions you spend in 4th, in the track?

I'm sure you're making quite a bit more power than low 500's as well... My post was for the op based off the info he gave... But thanks for your useless comment

Car traps 155-156 so whatever that is on 24s I would take a guess and say 820ish? anyway have u ever used an ls trans on 600hp? Or are u just throwing out useless info that u read somewhere else? I have used them on lower power setups and they work fine.

Also if its making high 400s-low 500s my bad I guess I thought it was a real d setup considering he needed the b trans I know of a couple d cars in my area making real power that could easily use an ls gear set without any issues.

I think the gsr gear ratio can be a good option. Thanks

you know what, Im not into the internet arguing... If you would have read the thread you would have seen he what kinda power the op is making... no need to knock his setup just because its not what you consider "real power" yes a ls trans would work for him, but a gsr would work better and go faster period..

Seriously, every car could use a LS gear set w/o any issue. It's simple physics...the shorter gearing will accelerate quicker. But because we struggle with traction issues, tire sizes, rpm limits, etc....we are forced to try longer geared setups. I bet your LS tranny car would go quicker (traction, etc. constant) with a shorter geared tranny.

For most cars that are street setups that will not go through the measures of traction control, tire sizes, etc. for traction, the gsr trans is a good all around set to use.
Can he go fast with a LS trans....yes. Can he go quicker with a shorter geared setup and get it to the ground.....yes he will.
