Default Liberty Faceplating????

Thinking about having some faceplating done or buying some faceplated gears. Wondering who has used them and what were your pros and cons of the set?

Better than having syncros?
Longevity?
Missed Shifts?

Im having the worst problem with getiing locked out of gears especially 2nd and 3rd. Before i make any decisions i wanted some feedback.

All info is appreciated.

Better than having syncros? yes
Longevity? yes, but gear teeth obviously break just as often as they would stock.
Missed Shifts? only if you shift lazy and don't double clutch like you are supposed to.
Have you owned them? yes.

When you did break a gear did you have them plate a new one? If so how was the turn around?

I have em on my d2b set up, love how they feel. My experience was not so good with liberty I had a much bigger turn around time not anything like 2-3 weeks.

Then had to send the gears hubs and sliders back in because they forgot to machine a couple gears that took a couple more weeks before they were shipped back to me

Im getting a dog box next month. Just won't make any events this year. Only decision i need to make now is whether I wont the Gforce or the Liberty. I can get a used liberty at a sweet deal right now. Either way im getting a Billet housing for either trans.

We have over 50 hits on our Gforce trans! Multiple 9.0's and a couple 8.9's at over 170mph. SFWD Trim at 2450lbs. Took the case off to check the trans two weeks ago and it still looks mint. Also, we don't have a billet housing... Right there alone you save some serious cash.

So what in the design of the GForce is keeping the cases together where the other gear sets out there cannot at your power level?

I'm glad you asked this...

What alot of people don't realize is that Gforce has been R&D this Honda transmission for years. It was not an easy process.

Felix Medina has been running this transmission for a couple of years. When things broke, Lou at gforce would make the part better, then of course another piece breaks, then the R&D continues. It was only in the middle of last year when the latest update was done. This is the current transmission on our car. We are giving it all she's got and it's still mint.

As for the cases being together... we are only on a 24.5 tire. This is much more forgiving on the transmission compared to the 26s. Alot of research has been done on Gforce part as well as Felix to get the case properly reinforced. Lou has shown us the proper way to do it and we have done this to our transmissions as well as customer cars.

That didn't answer the question. Does the gforce have a lower cuff like ppg?

Yes. The new gear set does from what Jason and Lou told me when I ordered some transmissions about a couple months ago. But I don't know if they have released it yet.

Gforce states that their dog ring is only capable of 600 HP, Do they offer different gear sets?

i dont think they updated their website in quite some time. Which seems to be a pattern in the automotive parts industry which makes no sense for a sales company.

My thoughts would be the Gforce gear set in a billet case would be tough to break. Is there anyone using this trans right now on 26's, that would tell the tell about the Gforce. We all know Liberty can take some hits on 26's.

Then let's talk replacement parts if something does break or wear out. Who has the fastest turn around time and the lower cost?

Yes it has a lower and upper cuff.

As for holding 600whp, it holds alot more than that. We are at approximately at the 1000whp and our trans is still mint. Over 50 hits on them.

Actually just add another run today. Only a 161mph, but shes still good to go (weather is hot in NJ). Also on a stock reinforced bell housing.

We have all the replacement parts in stock. Send the Gforce trans, it will take two to three days to get it together then it will be shipped right back.

I can't say it enough... these trans will hold 24.5 tires. Only broken ones that we have seen are the old style gears.... or driver error.
