2001 civic 1457 code
I am new to this so be paitient.
I just replaced the tdc or crank position sensor. When that went the car worked like crap. and would not start. Once that was replaced the car worked fine for a few days. Then my wife was driving it home tonight it started exibiting the same behavior. once the car was shut off and restarted it works fine now. The wife would not shut it off in fear of it not starting again. Anyone have similar issues. code 1457 is a manufacture emmission control device.
Help Please.

P1457 - EVAP Control System Leakage (EVAP Canister System)
It could be one or a combination of many things including the EVAP Canister Purge Valve, EVAP Bypass Solenoid Valve, EVAP Canister Vent Shut Valve, the canister, the ECU, a loose wire, etc.
The troubleshooting for DTC P1457 is up to 45 individual steps, so it is highly unlikely that someone is going to walk you through it.
I highly recommend that you buy a manual, or take it to a shop. Here is a link for the manual. http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2...C01&itemtype=N
You can also find used copies online, or buy them in disc form.

Honda Evap system can be the most time consuming and frustrating systems to diagnose, especially for a DIY'er. On 2000-2003 Civics I've been running into (quite a bit lately due to warmer weather) the "Purge Control Solenoid" not pulling a vaccuum during the PCM evap test. The Purge Solenoid is near the intake on the left side (if sitting in driver's seat). Other than that these cars don't give much Evap trouble. There is a bulletin (which I've yet to see any cars affected by it)on some 2001-2002 civics and it goes as follows:2001– 02 Civic and 2002 CR-V: MIL Comes On With DTC P1457
(Supersedes 02-026, dated April 16, 2002)
SYMPTOM
The MIL is on and DTC P1457 [leak detected in EVAP

Let me know if that helps.
