Default d16z6 help

So to was the day i picked up the motor for the crx. Since it's my first motor rebuilld i wanted to start out with a d16z6 vtec and build it from the ground up. I'm not to sure what to do first so i was wondering does anybody have any ideas on what i should do? I'm looking to get some power out of this motor before i go turbo.

How much $ are you willing to spend?
A decent basic rebuild will set you back something in the neighborhood of $700 if you do all the assembly.

How long do you want this to last?
Some people just throw in the basics and expect it to fly apart eventually. The thought being that they have a B motor build planned for later on and don't care about the D or will just pick up another D motor to trash on again.

And most importantly - is the turbo FOR SURE or just a wish?
How much power are you looking to make when you do go turbo?
Naturally aspirated and boost require different internals mainly dependent on compression.
Better to pick one or the other at this time since you are going ground up on the engine.

I'm looking to spend around $500-$900. I want the motor to last as long as it can but i want to have some speed to the vehicle for sure.

K - so how much hp is your goal when you go turbo?
Is the turbo system in the near future or a long time from now?

500~900 is totlly doable for the engine rebuild... so far.
Just trying to see what piston and rod options that leaves you.

Here's my take/option/blah blah blah
Aftermarket piston and rod combo is going to set you back $$$, but you don't have to go that way if your hp goal isn't too radical.
If you stay under about 215hp then stock internals work if you can live with stock power until you go turbo.
If you want more than that on turbo, then your compression should be dropped so without boost your performance is going to suffer. Depending on your hp goal it can be something like LS rods and Viarta pistons good for about 300hp reliably. Higher than that gets pricey with aftermarket rods and pistons.
