just trying to get some ideas before i tear into it. How it happend first. cranked the car over wouldnt start let sit for a min, cranked back over and poof backfire in the intake, smoke exiting from intake filter. start it back up the car runs and drives normal besides it wont drop below 3k.. any ideas... it did blow hard enough to blow my temp vacuum cap off the Throttle body. 96 civic running p28 chrome gold, Motor is a B20z with B16a2 head and jackson racing supercharger full msd box, dizzy and coil.

 

Update unpluged tps and no drop in rpm...

 

If it backfired, it blew something off the intake manifold and created a large vacuum leak, find it.

 

My Motor backfired, blew the intake manifold gasket

my car was idling at 2k, changed it idles fine now

so mite just be a gasket on the supercharger..

 

My motor was turboed when it happened. Spray brake clean around and see if idle changes

 

still fighting this problem sprayed carb clean around all gaskets and no noticeable change in idle

 

Hey OP was this problem ever fixed??

 

Check your throttle blade.. it maybe bent..
